Marketing

Background: Hawkins products have been marketed successfully over the last 64 years in over 60 countries all over the world.

The Role Involves: Insights into consumer behaviour, a good knowledge of English and Hindi/Regional language, a good appreciation of media will be useful. For the chosen candidate, there will be an opportunity to enhance his/her professional skills, get exposure to straight-forward, honest marketing and utilise a distribution reach of more than 50,000 outlets to try out his/her ideas.

We are looking for: Individuals who are experienced in Market Research, Digital Marketing, Creating Videos, Development of Showrooms, Brand and Product Management, Packaging and Communication Design. The applicants may have experience of working in an Agency or a Company or in the digital field. The applicant may have a broad experience on all aspects of Marketing or a deep experience of specific aspects. Experience of at least 8 years. Test Kitchen

Background: The Hawkins Test Kitchen produces meticulous instructions, tests the products from the consumers' viewpoint, creates recipes and much more.

Hawkins designs and manufactures its products exclusively in India. It has its own R&D and product design team. The Test Kitchen is vital to Hawkins product development. It is involved in testing the products and making suggestions on product design, writing instructions for the consumer, making videos explaining product usage, training dealers and the Sales Team, investigating the anomalous behaviour of a product and creating and writing recipes.

The Role involves: The testing of products is from the consumers' point of view. So the structure of the Hawkins Test Kitchen is such that while it does product testing it reports to the Executive Director - Marketing and not to the Technical R&D Head.

We are looking for: The Test Kitchen candidate will need to have a good understanding of cooking, good observation skills, an ability to think and write precisely and an inquisitive and curious bent of mind. Persons with a background in cooking professionally or having an interest in cooking will do well in this job. Experience of at least 8 years. Legal

Background: Hawkins is a law-abiding, ethical, straight-forward Company which has a tradition of fighting for its rights.

The Role Involves: The Legal department needs to advise the Company on legal matters, monitor and ensure legal compliance, brief counsel and organise action to avoid or support litigation as needed. Action to protect the Intellectual Property of the Company such as Trade Marks, Copy Rights, Designs and Patents are important. There are also occasions where action needs to be taken against spurious parts and products. A good understanding of Labour law - as we run three factories - will be useful. An opportunity to deal with wide ranging facets of law and compliance including Labour law, Company law, Commercial law, Packaged commodities, international contracts, dealing with Government regulations are all part of this job.

We are looking for: An ability to read documents and understand them, draft replies and pleas, a familiarity and understanding of how the Indian Courts work will be useful. The candidate should be a qualified solicitor or advocate with some experience. Experience of at least 8 years. Accounts

Background: Hawkins runs its own factories and sells its products in India and abroad through more than 50,000 outlets. Hawkins believes that clean and impartial accounting which reflects the underlying reality of the operations of its business is essential in maintaining the health of its business.

The Role Involves: Ability to capture the full range of operational activities in accounts. This makes it an interesting job where the Accounts department has exposure to transaction accounting, cost accounting, factory accounting, project accounting, marketing and dealer accounting, direct and indirect tax accounting, budgeting and control and management accounting.

We are looking for: A good knowledge of Accounts, Direct and Indirect Taxation, Control aspects of accounting, Audit and Reconciliation will be essential. Hawkins also runs its own accounting systems. A challenging and exciting part of this job will be that you can design reports and systems and are not limited to running an existing legacy software. A good understanding of the accounting standards, the ability to deal with internal and external auditors, and experience in writing the accounts of a listed Company will be essential. Location: The position will report to the Chief Financial Officer and is based in Mumbai.

Human Resources

Background: Hawkins has about 2,000 employees including temporaries. It has a management cadre of about 200. Many senior Hawkins executives have worked in the Company for more than 25 years. It has an excellent relationship with all its employees, is considered a fair and just employer and expects its managers to work diligently and insists on discipline and focus in the workplace. It has three factories, one in the Punjab at Hoshiarpur, one in Jaunpur District near Prayagraj and one in Thane near Mumbai, and two offices in Mumbai.

The Role Involves: Identifying the needs of the business and finding the right people, yearly appraisals, career planning, induction and training, recruitment and termination, negotiations with unions, giving feedback to senior management.

We are looking for: A good understanding of behavioral science, motivation and experience in appraisals, Labour laws and recruitment. Experience of at least 8 years. Good candidates with lesser experience may also apply and will be made an appropriate offer if found suitable.

Location: Corporate HR will be based in Mumbai. Factory Personnel Managers will be based at the respective factories.

Quality

Background: Hawkins is the undisputed leader in Quality in all the products that it sells.

The Role Involves: Dealing with certification from ISI, UL, CE, etc., also dealing with a monthly quality comparison with products made by various plants or competition. Quality department is also responsible for quality improvements, problem-solving, setting of standards, testing and quality control. Knowledge of statistical quality control techniques, root cause analysis, quality circles, quality and process documentation, testing - destructive and non-destructive, leading quality improvement projects will be useful.

We are looking for: People who have an eye for detail, an innovative and curious mind-set to find root causes, an ability to insist on quality even with production pressures, an experimentative nature and a good man manager. Location: The position will be based at the Quality Headquarter at Thane. Other positions may be available at our factories.

Automation

Background: Hawkins needs to do more in physical automation. We manufacture more than 5 million units and there is a good scope for automation where we have not achieved much.

The Role Involves: Achieving successful automation that will have real gains in Productivity or Quality or both. We are interested in both, low cost and high impact automation but they have to deliver palpable improvements. Making special-purpose machines, robotic lines, pick and place set ups, Manufacturing 4.0, Poka-yoke, Kaizen, and other interventions, small or big, that improve the product or reduce costs are welcome. We have both mechanical processes and electrochemical operartions like Anodising, Nonstick Coating lines and a large scale assembly operations which can give rise to a lot of automation.

We are looking for: The candidate must be practical hands-on and able to design, imagine and implement useful process improvements. The candidate should be a Mechanical or Electrical Engineer though people who are otherwise qualified but have a practical knack for automation will also be considered. Experience of at least 8 years. Good candidates with lesser experience may also apply and will be made an appropriate offer if found suitable.

Location: The position is based at the Technical Headquarter at Thane and will involve travel to various other factories and countries based on automation projects.

Procurement

Background: Hawkins produces its products in its own factories and through sub-contractors and vendors. We have a robust system of vendor development and sourcing. Hawkins has a strong, ethical procurement culture which is fair to its suppliers but is a hard negotiator and has no place for malpractice of any kind.

The Role Involves: The procurement of raw materials like aluminium, stainless steel and paper, semi-finished and finished components, plastics, eutectic alloys, die-cast components and electrical and electronic components. It also involves vendor development and purchase of finished goods in case of bought-out items.

We are looking for: The candidate should have experience of developing and sustaining supply chains. An experience of working with suppliers outside India will be an added bonus. An understanding of costing, manufacturing processes, negotiation techniques will be essential. Experience of at least 8 years. Process Improvements

Background: Hawkins is a light mechanical process manufacturer. It has a high regard for quality and is keen to invest in processes that produce less rejections, high quality with less skilled manpower.

The Role Involves: Looking at current processes, both inhouse and outhouse, and working out the possible improvements. These processes involve metal finishing, coating, anodising, other chemical processes, mechanical processes, electrical processes, effluent treatment, material movements, material handling, factory layouts, machine design, importing new technology and know-how, reducing wastage, energy saving, etc. The person should be able to make small improvements and big improvements to existing processes and also advise and guide on technology to be used for new factory spaces that are being set up.

We are looking for: Candidates may be from any Engineering field but with the ability to work with their hands and a good understanding of mechanical and/or electrical systems. Persons who are Civil Engineers and have experience of setting up greenfield factory projects can also apply. Experience of at least 8 years. Research and Development

Background: Hawkins designs and develops all its products inhouse. It is one of the very few manufacturers in India who design and develop consumer products in India and export to the world. We design our products for the Vitruvian triad - utility, durability and beauty. The Futura Pressure Cooker designed by the inhouse team has been displayed at the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York. We are a Government recognised R&D centre and we have a team of almost 20 engineers working on product design, productionising, and product development.

The Role Involves: We are looking for persons who have an eye for design, both functional and aesthetic. The other aspect of R&D is to deal with productionising, product improvements and engineering challenges. There is a strong bias for testing and R&D has to do its own testing and work closely with Test Kitchen to design & produce products for the market.

We are looking for: Persons with a curious mind, with an ability and inclination to work with their own hands, a problem-solving attitude and good design sense. We are looking at launching electrical products and other kitchen related items - people with expertise in these fields are welcome. Experience of at least 8 years.
