Tidali
Mix of Three Pulses

Ingredients
5 ½ cups water
¾ cup split green gram with skin (soaked in water for ½ hour and drained)
¾ cup red gram (soaked in water for ½ hour and drained)
¾ cup split red lentils (soaked in water for ½ hour and drained)
2 medium ( ¼ kg) tomatoes (chopped)
10 green chillies (chopped)
10 g ginger (chopped)
3 tbsp coriander leaves (chopped)
1 sprig curry leaves
1 tsp turmeric powder
4 tsp salt
tempering  
¼ cup ghee
12 flakes garlic (chopped)
¼ tsp asafoetida
1 tsp red chilli powder

Recipe
1. Put 4 ½ cups water and all other ingredients except those for tempering in cooker. Mix.
2. Close cooker. Bring to full pressure on high heat. Reduce heat and cook for 1 minute.
3. Remove cooker from heat. Allow to cool naturally.
4. Open cooker. Place cooker on medium heat. Add remaining water (1 cup). Simmer for about 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
5. For tempering, heat ghee in a pan for about 2 minutes. Add garlic. Stir fry till golden brown. Remove pan from heat. Add asafoetida, chilli powder and pour over tidali. Stir. Serve hot.
